PROGRAM FACILITATOR
Job Description
General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
Position requires specific responsibility for: Morning, day and evening hours of supervision and security for the facility and program residents. Preparation of written reports as required and supporting other program coordinators as needed.
Supervision Received:
Works under the direct supervision of the Program Director or Senior Staff on duty, who determine goals, assigns work and reviews performance for overall effectiveness through reports, observation, and conferences. Employee shall exercise a degree of independent decision and judgment in relation to scope of duties and responsibilities.
Supervision Exercised:
Supervision of other program employees is NOT a regular responsibility of this position; however, position shall require supervision of student residents who participate in the program, including interns and trainees during on duty hours.
Examples of Principle Duties: (Examples do not cover all duties that will be performed).
- A thorough working knowledge of all program policies and procedures relative to assigned scope of duties and responsibilities. These specifically shall include, Adult & Teen Challenge Program Policies and Procedures Manual, and the Student Conduct Policies and Guidelines Manual.
- Possess good standards of personal hygiene and a neat clean appearance including prescribed standards for hair and dress.
- Responsible for the securing of facility at night after lights out or when students are leaving the facility for outside activities. Securing the facility shall include the following: Lock and secure all doors and windows. Turn off all lights that are not required to be on.
- Transportation of students, if required, to designated program activities, work details, or medical facilities (valid driver’s license is necessary).
- Prepare periodic reports pertaining to a student’s attitude or behavior that is in violation of program policies and procedures as the need arises.
- Monitoring student phone calls during authorized times.
- Approve and authorize student mail, phone and visitation privileges for those designated contact persons outside the program.
- Responsible for the provision of evening and early morning security for the facility and students during designated hours.
- A thorough working knowledge of emergency procedures which shall include: Notification of emergency services as required. Evacuation procedures. Notification of designated staff personnel as required, and a working knowledge of the automatic fire alarm system.
- Supervision of the following weekly scheduled activities: Recreation, T.V. News, and entertainment movies. Saturday family visits. Church functions. Seasonal outdoor activities (car washes, garage sales, etc.).
- Responsible for strict adherence to the program’s scheduled events and activities.
- Supervises students, interns and trainees in the functioning of the program during designated hours of responsibility.
- Supervises student, intern and trainee morning job task assignments for daily facility clean-up and maintenance.
- Availability and cooperativeness to assist in other areas of the program as required by the Program Director or designee.
- Other related work as required.
Recruiting Requirements-Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
A working knowledge of the methods and practices of supervision and the ability to carry them out; an understanding of the methods, practices, and objectives of the Teen Challenge “Christian Growth Program”. Working knowledge and ability to produce required reports. Considerable ability to work harmoniously with other staff personnel and students. Good Physical health. Ability to supervise the evening and early morning programs schedule. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to understand and follow instructions and to carry them out. Emotional maturity, professional objectivity, and the ability to act in a Christian manner. The ability to carry out recommendations and directives of the Program Director or designee.
Experience and Training:
- High School graduate or GED.
- Demonstrated competence to effectively interact, work with and supervise students, interns and trainees participating in the program.
- Any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training demonstrating competency in executing the duties and responsibilities of the student facilitator for Adult & Teen Challenge Illinois.
Special Requirements:
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain within 30 days, a valid Illinois driver’s license.
